Please join expert faculty as they explore the importance of providers serving as “champions” of research. The African American community in general is underrepresented in clinical research. In areas such as multiple sclerosis, it is important to ensure that clinical trials represent the community to which it seeks to serve.

Webcast 2: Transition of the Adolescent (Complete)

Please join expert faculty as they discuss the importance of transition of care of those affected by multiple sclerosis. This webcast will address the unique challenges African American children living with MS may face as they transition from pediatric/adolescent care to providers treating adults. 

Webcast 3: PART I: The Importance of Cultural Sensitivity and Early Diagnosis (Complete)

The importance on the part of providers to appreciate the cultural beliefs, traditions and perspectives of the patients they are treating is paramount. In this webcast, an MS specialist and a leader in minority health quality research and education will explore the close and important link between cultural sensitivity and early diagnosis and how providers can meaningfully appreciate their patients’ cultural backgrounds.

In this webcast, an MS specialist and a leading patient-provider communication professor will explore the link between patient-provider communication and cultural sensitivity and competency. They will also discuss how good patient-provider communication is vitally important in the MS African American community.
